Of potential interest to the Horse Racing enthusiast or Collector, a very fine group of 3 wonderfully executed contemporary Oil on Canvas Portraits in gilt frames of a trio of successful Racehorses. ‘Mill Reef’ (Bred in the United States, but trained in the United Kingdom for his entire racing career which lasted from 1970 to 1972. Successes included winning the Epsom Derby, the Eclipse Stakes, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Prix de I’Arc de Triomphe). ‘Brigadier Gerard’ (A British trained contemporary of Mill Reef, his racing career also lasted from 1970 to 1972. He defeated Mill Reef in a memorable race in the 2000 Guineas and in addition, had further successes including the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, the Prince of Wales Stakes, the George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the Eclipse Stakes). ‘Quiet Fling’ (Another American Bred (Kentucky), British Trained Racehorse who had his most high profile win at the Coronation Cup in 1976 with legendary Jockey Lester Piggott in the saddle).
